Morro Bay, California, about midway along the coast between Los Angeles and San Francisco on Highway 1 (a good rest stop). Morro Bay has become famous for its beautiful state parks, bird sanctuaries, and the distinct Morro Rock. Morro Rock, an enormous volcanic plug which covers over 50 acres at its base and towers 576 feet above the entrance to Morro Bay. A large sand spit runs for miles north to south creating an almost perfect shelter for the harbor and adjacent tidal estuary.
My favorite activities include kayaking, bird/sea lion watching, or just relax and enjoy.
